The .IQ Domain
Each country has an Internet domain, and Iraq has been
assigned .IQ. Recognising this as an untapped resource,
CITRI is working with the assigned registrars, and IANA
(the Internet Assigned Name Authority) to orchestrate
a controlled auction for these sought after domains
names. Whether we become custodians of the domain, or
work closely with the registrar, our target is to realise
in excess of ten million dollars from the domain registration
auction.
By registering a .IQ domain through CITRI, businesses
and individuals can make use of their new domain identity,
and help to make a fundamental difference to the future
of the people of Iraq .
Each domain is distinctive, but there are some very
desirable domains available for example, an email
address @HIGH.IQ would befit any member of MENSA.
The above table contains the proposed auction starting
prices for the registration of an individual domain.
Corporate and government bodies have a higher starting
price, reflecting the reduced competition for trademark
protected domains. Where the bidding exceeds the levels
of two or five year registrations, then a bidder will
automatically have their registration extended to this films
period.
The auction is set to continue over an intense two
month period, after which funds will be called upon
from the winners of each bid, and registrations formalised.
In the case that a registration is not successful, no
funds will be charged, unless the individual wishes
to make a donation to the fund.
Each successful bidder and donor will be listed on
the CITRI web site, reflecting our thanks for their
valued contribution.
